How to declare home help to the tax authorities

The tax credit is a tax benefit that allows people to reduce their taxes, and it takes the form of a refund. This is particularly the case for people whose expenses are linked to a home job.

The tax credit for home help allows the50% deduction of expenses incurred in home help over a calendar year, up to a limit of €12,000 per year, or even up to €15,000 depending on the situation (dependent child, elderly parent, etc.).

What personal services can be deducted from taxes?

This is particularly the case for assistance or home help for the elderly and disabled people, medical procedures, or home meal delivery. Other services are included in the tax reduction:

  • Assistance or home help for the elderly (excluding medical procedures).
  • Assistance or home help for people with disabilities.
  • Home meal preparation.
  • House maintenance.
  • Small gardening jobs.
  • Computer and internet assistance at home.
  • Animal walk.
  • Home tutoring.

How to complete your tax return when you have used home help?

Since 2020, the automatic declaration changer. It allows you to simplify your procedures since the tax administration pre-fills your tax return thanks to the information it already has. Making a declaration or completing a return has never been easier. All you have to do is check the information. However, by using our services, your expenses are eligible for a tax credit, and you must therefore complete your pre-filled declaration online.

Case No. 1: Fill in box 7db of the taxes on the paper

All home employment expenses incurred in 2024 are to be declared on line 7DB of your 2025 tax return for the tax authorities to authorize the granting of the personal services tax credit. When you have used a home help service, you must therefore complete this box 7DB regardless of the type of service provider you used (company such as Senior Compagnie, association, etc.).

To complete your declaration, you need your certificates sent in advance by your agency. Several scenarios:

  • You have paid the full amount eligible for the tax credit: in this case, you simply need to indicate the amount of expenses shown on your tax certificate in box 7DB relating to sums paid for home employment.
  • You paid some or all of the expenseswith CESU U: the tax benefit granted to you is 50% of the amount of expenses actually incurred, up to a limit of €12,000, i,.e. a tax benefit of €6,000maximum per year (this ceiling may be higher for people over 65 or holders of an 80% disability card, for example).

The tax benefit only applies to expenses you actually incur. Must deduct the amount received from the amount shown on your tax certificate. If you paid all of your expenses in CESU, you do not have to declare anything.

Note that no increase does not apply to the limit of €20,000.

Case No. 2: Fill in box 7db of the online tax form

Unlike the paper version of the tax return, the online tax return does not allow you to directly enter the amount of home care expenses in box 7DB since it is grayed out. You must therefore report all eligible expenses in detail, one after the other. To do this:

  • Click the pencil next to the 7DB and 7DR boxes.
  • Enter the name of the home help service provider company you used in 2024.
  • Open the drop-down menu to select the type of home care expense.
  • Declare the amount of the expense.

Box 7DR to declare home help received in 2024

Another sub-category of the “Personal Services: Home Employment” category is called “Aid received for home employment” (PCH, L’LL’APAA, T  THE Pre-financed CESU…). This is the case 7DRThe total amount of aid received is deducted from the amount of expenses for the calculation of the tax credit. If the pre-entered amount is incorrect, it is up to you to correct the error by entering the correct amount in box 7DR.

Please note that the simplified calculation of the personal services tax credit is: Amount 7DB – Amount 7DR.

Income tax return, what deduction with CESU?

  • You received €1,500 in the form of a CESU voucher in 2025: €1,000 paid by the funder (employer, works council) and €500 that you paid. This is the amount you financed, i.e., the €500 that must be declared in box 7DB.
  • You paid €2,500, including €1,500 in CESU, to pay for Senior Compagnie home care services. You must deduct the amount financed by CESU from the total amount paid, here €2,500 – €1,500 = €1,000. You therefore indicate €1,000 in box 7DB on your tax return.

Please note that by benefiting from this tax advantage, there is no need to print your tax certificate. You simply need to keep it as proof in case the tax authorities get back to you. Similarly, as a taxpayer, you must keep the employment contracts and pay slips of your employees.

Tax reduction and tax credit

Did you receive a tax reduction or credit? Please note that you do not need to declare these reductions on your tax return. Since 2017, a form has been available for this purpose and can be downloaded from impots.gouv.fr.

Afterwards, you have two options: print it or specify it in your online declaration. If you received a reduction following a service from one of our Senior Compagnie agencies, you must check certain lines or boxes that appear on the form in question (line and box 7DR “aid received for home employment”).

What is the deadline to declare your income in 2025?

For the online tax return, three deadlines are currently set by the tax authorities depending on your area: May 22 for departments 01 to 19, May 28 for departments 20 to 54, and June for departments 55 to 976.

However, if you cannot complete your declaration online, you can still complete your declaration on paper.

You have two options:

  • Obtain the declaration form from your Public Finance Center (Personal Tax Service)
  • or on the tax website.

Once you have completed your declaration and signed it, you can send it to the personal tax office before midnight on May 20, 2025. The postmark is proof.

How to declare meal delivery in 2025?

Expense eligible for tax credit, provided it is a component of a global offer of personal service., The home meal delivery is an additional service that you must declare to the tax authorities. Here’s how to do it:

  • In the case of a proper declarationrefer to the line“Home meal delivery”, box BDN, from form 2042 RICI.
  • As the declaration, the digital version: click on the pencil icon to the right of boxes 7DB and 7DR. By clicking, a new window opens to the declaration of home help expenses incurred in year N-1 (i,.e. 2024). Please note, as indicated at the very beginning of the paragraph, meal delivery cannot be declared alone, in which case you are no longer eligible for the tax credit. Best practice is therefore to declare a meal delivery service at the same time as other expenses.
